After asking someone for suggestions of things to do in Madrid, I decided to be a little bit nostalgic, go through my old travel blogs from Madrid this past summer, and take note of all the fun suggestions of things to do in Madrid for future reference in a more condensed way.
Music
Bars / novelties
- J&J's book store - English-language thrift book store that also buys back English books. Also doubles as a bar that has great trivia nights! (more details at my post here)
- Randall's Salsa club
- El Rastro street market on Saturday mornings
- Senegalese food in the Lavapiés district - just wander around and you'll find a good cheap restaurant
- El Chapandaz cave bar - the minimum drink size here is 2L, meant to be shared
- El Tigre - cheap drinks and a tapa to go with it
Food places
- Las Orejas de Oro - pig ears tapas bar (my post here)
- touristy tapas places (lots of variety) on the Calle de la Cava Baja
- hot chocolate at Chocolatería San Ginés
- 100 Montaditos, a million locations around the city - 1-euro sandwich bites on Wednesdays
- El Museo de Jamón - a bit touristy, but cheap ham
Outdoor
- Plaza de España is really nice to sit in (statue of Don Quixote)
- Templo de Debod - lots of young people sitting having picnics in the park
- Parque de Retiro
- Outside the city
